I belong to Generation Z, a group born around the year 2000. There are a few stereotypes that are associated with my generation. some people say that we are superficial, have low attention spans and are addicted to technology. those people imagine we spend all day taking selfies and uploading them to social media. A more positive stereotype is that we are pragmatic problem solvers and natural multitaskers. It's true that we are good at doing several things at once. With regard to our technology addiction... even though we are quite dependent on technology, we're not addicted. I don't agree thar we are superficial. As a matter of fact, I think we are less superficial than the generation before us. I think people believe the Generation Z stereotypes because they don't understand us.

Pumpkin Carving Craft

                                   

What’s Halloween without a carved pumpkin? A perfectly carved pumpkin gives it a ghastly ghoul look, a vital part of Halloween.  Pumpkin carving  isn’t just for kids. It can be an art, and can create some pretty charming decorations. Nothing says Halloween like a carved pumpkin. Whether you’re an experienced sculptor or still at elementary-school level, there are a few tricks that can easily improve your results.

 Pumpkin carving is a really simple and fun activity. No matter the size or shape, look for a sturdy pumpkin which will stand upright. Wipe down the outside of the pumpkin with a damp cloth before cutting into it.

Things You'll Need

1. A pumpkin.
2. A sharp (preferably serrated) knife.
3. Newspaper or brown bags.
4. A spoon or scoop.
5. A permanent or dry-erase marker.
6. Candles or LED lights.
7. An x-acto knife for pulp carving or small details (optional)
8. A lighter or matches (optional)

Flipgrid

Proyectos de Expresión e Interacción oral en lengua extranjera para el alumnado a través de FLIPGRID 

FlipGrid es una aplicación online gratis (aún no está en español, solo inglés) que permite proponer actividades en las que las respuestas son en vídeos cortos fáciles de hacer de hasta 5 minutos que pueden ser vistos por otros. Es el social learning.
Se puede utilizar en clase o en otros entornos (grupos de amigos para organizar algo, entornos profesionales, etc.) siendo la clave que los resultados son vídeos cortos y fáciles de hacer por parte de los propios usuarios, tanto desde la web como desde la app para Andorid y iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch).
A pesar de estar solo en inglés, FlipGrid, explicada paso a paso en este artículo (pantalla por pantalla) es sencilla de utilizar para profesores, estudiantes/alumnos y participantes en general ya que es muy intuitiva.

A través de la Plataforma Flipgrid, varias profesoras contactaron conmigo para conectar nuestras clases. De todas ellas, por la edad e intereses del alumnado, aceptamos la invitación del centro  Minooka Comunity High School, en Illinois. De esta forma nos convertimos en Flipgrid Pals!!

La profesora americana, Hannah Keppner, ha creado el grupo en Flipgrid y conectamos nuestras clases asignando a cada alumno un código de participación en el mismo. El alumnado americano comenzará con el tema 1 "Introductions", a las que responderán los alumnos españoles. En el siguiente tema, School, cambiamos el turno y así lo iremos haciendo desde el inicio. Los vídeos los graban en español y en inglés. Así practican la interacción oral en la lengua extranjera y a la vez se oyen recíprocamente en su lengua materna.
